MOTHER'S DAY: Greetings to all mothers!
Mother's Day was established in 1914 in the United States at the suggestion of
Anna M . Jarvis.
Anna was very close to her mother, a teacher at the Andrews Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia.
After the death of his mother, Anna became involved sending letters to ministers and members of Congress to be celebrated a national holiday dedicated to all mothers. This festival was to constitute a sign of affection to all in relation to their mother while she was still alive.
Thanks to his tenacity and determination, the first mother Adella fest was celebrated in Grafton and the following year in Philadelphia was May 10, 1908.
Anna Jarvis chose as a symbol of this celebration of the carnation, mother's favorite flower: red for mothers in life, white for the mothers disappeared.
In 1914, President Wilson announced the decision of Congress to celebrate this holiday on the second Sunday of May as a public expression of love and gratitude to the mothers of the country.
